Sweet Happy Life

It's been several years since I started Sweet Happy Life in 2011 and though I've greatly enjoyed sharing activities and recipes here, I've decided it's time to move on.

There are a few reasons for this. First and foremost, writing this site takes a good deal of time and energy that I'd rather dedicate to my family in "real life," as it were. Every time I shared something on this site, that meant part of me was thinking about this blog and how I would write about what we were doing, instead of being in the moment with my family while we were creating art or cooking together.  I don't want that to be the case anymore.

Another reason for closing this site is the sheer amount of negativity online these days. Though I initially felt like writing this blog connected me with other moms, it was only on rare occasions that someone would comment on a post - and then it was often to complain or to criticize something. I didn't let comments like that get to me per say, but they definitely weren't a welcome addition to my inbox. There is no reason for me to invite negativity into my life.

Lastly, as the munchkin has grown older it has become increasingly apparent to me that I may not want a written record of his younger years online. Not for my sake, but for his. I've never posted much about him or even full photos of him, but he doesn't need a written record of his mother's musings following him around in elementary school or beyond. This is, of course, a personal choice and implies no judgement on any of the amazing mom blogs that are out there.

For those of you who have read my blog and posted kind comments, thank you. It has been a pleasure sharing some of our pastimes with you. If you would like to connect with me in some way, I will still be using Pinterest to keep track of new recipes and activities we want to try at home. :)

I'll leave you with a blessing that I've always thought beautiful and poignant. Be well my friends.

May the sun bring you new energy by day.
May the moon softly restore you by night.
May the rain wash away your worries.
May the breeze blow new strength into your being.
May you walk gently through the world and know its beauty all the days of your life.
